BAND ORGAN VINYL RECORDINGS COLLECTORS CORNER

This series of monthly articles will feature information for collectors of recordings of Band Organs which were produced on vinyl 33 1/3 records years ago. Hopefully this information will be of value to those collectors by providing information about the record albums so they can search for them in old record stores etc.

This months record is "DE GROTE GAVIOLI". The album number is PLP1085 STEREO. The record was produced on the CJMO Ltd label of London in 1978. At the time of recording, the organ was in the collection of Mr. A.B. Mason of Burnham Market, Norfolk.

The organ featured is an 89 key Gavioli playing book music. The record jacket states the organ was built in 1890 by the Paris firm of Gavioli for the showman Reinhard Dirks. The organ has over 500 pipes with the following layout:
